Our History
Established in 1998, the Sterling Group today owns and manages over 1.7 million square feet of real estate distributed over 70 properties. The Group's portfolio, currently concentrated in Eastern Canada, comprises a mix of shopping malls, unenclosed power centres & strip malls, office buildings and industrial buildings.
The Group has also invested in strategic parcels of land and is currently holding in excess of 840 acres of land for greenfield development.
Expansion in Ontario with the purchase of the Thunder Bay Centre from Investors Group
Expansion in Ontario with the purchase of the Heritage Place Mall from Kingsett Capital
Expansion in Newfoundland & Labrador with the purchase of three malls (Millbrook Mall, Fraser Mall, Marystown Mall) from Slate Office REIT
Expanded footprint into Newfoundland & Labrador with the purchase of the Valley Mall from Crombie REIT
Expanded footprint into New Brunswick with the purchase of three malls as part of a joint-venture
Expanded footprint into Ontario with the purchase of the Hawkesbury Center Mall as a joint-venture
Entered the Mont-Tremblant market with purchase of units in Marriott, Westin, Holiday Inn
Completed the purchase of an office building from Caisse des Depot
Completed the purchase of the first 5 of the total 18 Laurentian Bank anchored properties

Our Head Office
Built in 1907, located in the heart of Saint Laurent Borough, 1395 rue de l’Église, was awarded the Architectural Heritage Award in 2007 by the city of Montreal.
After purchasing this landmark building, the Sterling Group retrofit the interior of the building with amenities of a modern day office while preserving and respecting the history and the heritage of the building.
The Group’s head office was relocated to 1395 rue de l’Eglise once the transformation was completed in the summer of 2013. All acquisition, legal, asset management, and leasing decisions are now centralized at this new office.
